Product description
Open-cell foam made from melamine resin
Product properties
- High temperature resistance
- Low thermal conductivity
- Favorable fire behavior
- Flame retardant
- Low density
- Excellent sound absorption capacity
- Very good chemical resistance
Application areas
- Automotive
- Rail vehicle
- Thermal insulation
- Airborne sound attenuation
Processing
Bonding only on dry, grease-free, clean substrates. Press the surface well. The material is easy to punch and cut. You can easily adjust the material and cut it to size with a sharp knife.Cleaning
- No significant soiling from the material is to be expected. In the case of self-adhesive parts, adhesive residues can be removed with a petrol-based cleaning agent if necessary. The safety instructions for the cleaning agent used must be observed.
Delivery form
- Cuts
- Punched parts (dimensions on request)
- Can be equipped with self-adhesive
- Sheet goods
- With modified surfaces
Notes
Due to the sorption behavior of the melamine resin in conjunction with the open-cell nature of the foam, the moisture content of the material changes depending on the ambient conditions. This is associated with dimensional changes in the order of ± 2 % (based on the average moisture content). This behavior must be taken into account during processing (pre-storage of the parts in the application-related climate).
Do not use Tect for outdoor applications/exposure to the elements. The grey coloration is not UV-stable, color fluctuations may occur. Due to the manufacturing process, the product has a mixed pore structure. Up to 10 pores per m² with a diameter of 5 to 15 mm can occur and are no reason for complaint.
If required, the material can be made hydrophobic and oleophobic by impregnation.

Environment
- The product complies with the following directives or fulfills the required restrictions on use: 1907/2006 (REACH), 2011/65 (RoHs2), 2015/863 (RoHs3), 2019/1021 (POP), 517/2014 (greenhouse gases), 2024/590 (depletion of the ozone layer).
- Waste from Hanno®-Tect can be thermally and materially recycled. Pure flake composite foams in densities of 25 to 100 kg/m³ have excellent sound absorption in the low and medium frequency range. Loose-fill flakes have already been successfully applied in cavities in suspended ceilings with the aim of improving their acoustic properties.
