Effective sound insulation for devices in medical technology and therapy

Technical devices in the field of medicine and therapy fulfil a variety of important control and monitoring functions. Many of these devices produce different noises and sounds during operation because they have not been fitted with sound insulation by the manufacturers. However, it is precisely these monotonous, repetitive sounds and noises that most patients find disturbing. They need peace and quiet to be able to relax and get a restful night's sleep. In order not to impair the patient's recovery, the background noise should be kept to an absolute minimum. With most devices, however, it is not easy to regulate or switch off the noise. Additional sound insulation is then advisable.

Sound insulation for different requirements

As varied as the range of medical devices is, so too are the sounds that these machines produce. It is therefore important to choose the right sound insulation for each device. When making a selection, it is important to bear in mind that the devices emit sounds at different frequencies depending on their design. The sound insulation must be precisely matched to this in order to achieve the greatest possible effect. In our extensive range, you will find suitable sound insulation made of acoustic foams that convert the sound waves into heat after they penetrate the absorbers and dissipate them. This reduces the volume and significantly reduces the overall noise level.

Prevent sounds, vibrations and airborne noise

Furthermore, most medical devices are equipped with a plastic casing. Vibrations that are transmitted to the panelling during operation can be heard as a constant humming noise. Most patients find this noise very unpleasant. However, we also offer you the right sound insulation products to remedy this. Vibration noise can be prevented by increasing the weight of the appliance casing. The higher the weight, the lower the background noise. With acoustic heavy foils, medical devices can be retrofitted to the inner walls of the panelling in just a few simple steps. The natural frequency of the thin plastic walls can thus be changed and the disruptive vibrations are permanently suppressed.

Combining sound insulation

In addition to structure-borne noise, medical devices also generate airborne noise. Membrane absorbers that absorb a wide frequency range of airborne sound are suitable for sound insulation. For most devices, membrane absorbers with a low material thickness but a high density are completely sufficient to ensure effective sound insulation. At the same time, these membrane absorbers can support and reinforce the effect of the heavy foils. For medical devices that mainly produce sounds at particularly high frequencies, nap foam, which is also used in recording studios and in rooms for acoustic tests, has proven its worth. This sound insulation is also particularly suitable for devices with loud fans.
